Member of Parliament for Muhoroni Constituency, James Onyango Koyoo, has a dream of honouring a legendary educationist who hailed from the area.
This is after the national government allocated Sh11 million to kick-start the construction of Muhoroni Technical and Vocational College (TVC) in Kisumu County.
The legislature hinted at plans to rename the facility Aora Ndinya TVC in honour of the late Sylvanus Aora Ndinya, a respected educationist from the Sidho East area, who once served as the Principal of Kisumu Technical High School, where Koyoo received his early education as a high school student.
Koyoo presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the TVC at Ngeny Primary School grounds.

He said the new institution is designed to empower young people with technical and vocational skills, enhancing their employability and promoting self-reliance through modern training facilities.
“Education and skills development are the foundation of progress. With Aora Ndinya TVC, we are opening doors of opportunity for our young people, equipping them with hands-on skills that will not only create jobs but also transform lives and uplift our community.”
“This project underscores Koyoo’s commitment to investing in education and capacity building, positioning Muhoroni as a future hub for skilled workforce development and economic growth,” he added.
Koyoo stated that the development will go a long way in helping youths to access technical skills near their locality.
The Muhoroni NG-CDF Committee has also enhanced the allocation by contributing an additional Sh10 million for the cause, further boosting the planned construction of the new vocational institution.
The initial construction phase will include a twin workshop hall, classrooms, and a two-storey office building.
“When it takes off, we will have a serious institution that will absorb the majority of our students who are not able to join public universities, either through cut-off points or because they are willing to do technical subjects,” he stated.
Koyoo emphasised that the government is working to ensure every constituency has a TVC institution, making it necessary to establish and equip the college in Muhoroni.
The contractor assured that the project will be ready within 9 months to open gates for the first student enrollment.
The Ministry of Education has nominated Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT) as the mentoring institution.
Principal of RIAT, Gilbert Mwavali, speaking at the event, assured that they will closely monitor the project to ensure that the government gets value for money.
“Once completed, we shall also midwife the process of appointing its first Board of Governors and ensure that the first enrollment of students takes place,” Mwavali stated.
