Mudavadi reiterates State’s pledge to hire 30,000 teachers

Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi has reiterated the government’s pledge to employ 30,000 teachers this year.

Speaking during a thanksgiving sunday service at the Anglican Church of Kenya, Christ Church Cathedral in Kakamega, Mudavadi urged residents to support the Finance Bill 2023 saying that the tax elements contained in the Bill is what will be used to recruit and pay the teachers.

He added that the taxes will sort the perennial issue of insufficient funds in constituency NGCDF kitties, which are used for students’ bursaries and development of infrastructure in schools.

Mudavadi asked the residents to nurture a development-oriented mindset so as to phase out perennial problems and tackle recurrent challenges faced by the education sector and the country at large.

“President Ruto is doing the best he can and working with his government will lead us to prosperity but others are taking this matter for granted,” he said.

Speaking at the function, President William Ruto assured residents that he will sort out the wrangles being experienced at Mumias Sugar Company and that plans are underway to bring it back to life despite the government disbursing Ksh4.5 billion with no results.

He noted that the company has a debt of Ksh2 billion and he will seek the Parliament’s assistance to fid a permanent solution.

Also in attendance were Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, UDA Party Secretary General Cleophas Malala, Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale and area MPs.
