Mabati Rolling Mills to host photography workshop for students

Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM), a manufacturer of Building Solutions and a member of the Safal Group, has organized a workshop for students at the KWS Nairobi Safari Walk as part of the “Safal Eye in the Wild” environmental photography competition.

The event unfolded at KWS Nairobi Safari Walk, with Samsung Electronics East Africa providing support by supplying S23 Ultra devices to enhance the students’ learning experience.

Tatiana Karanja, a judge for this year’s competition launched on July 30, 2023, under the theme of Drought, facilitated the workshop said that the aim was to inspire young photographers to use their art as a means of storytelling.

The judge noted that its purpose extended beyond teaching photography techniques; it encouraged participants to focus their lenses on innovative solutions for environmental conservation.

Accomplished photographers and environmentalists led the workshop, offering expertise in photography techniques, storytelling, and editing.

At the heart of the workshop was the Safal Eye in the Wild competition, challenging participants to capture images showcasing innovative drought combat solutions, including water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and community initiatives.

The competition not only promotes creativity but also raises awareness about practical approaches to mitigate drought.

Generous cash prizes awaited the competition winners: USD 3,000 for the Gold award, USD 2,000 for Silver, and USD 1,000 for Bronze, along with additional cash prizes and gifts for outstanding entries.

“Through this workshop, we aim to nurture a culture where the next generation of photographers can confidently use their art to address issues and propose solutions,” he emphasized.

The Communications and CSR Officer Angela Masha, expressed her excitement about harnessing photography’s potential to contribute to environmental conservation through art.
