Kenya’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) community is gearing up for the first ever Mr and Miss TVET Kenya 2025/2026 national pageant, scheduled for November 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at Kericho Township Technical and Vocational College (KERITTVC).

The event is expected to mark a major milestone in promoting creativity, confidence and innovation among students in technical institutions across the country.

The competition, organised under the TVET umbrella, is designed to highlight the human and artistic side of technical education. For many years, TVET institutions have been known mainly for equipping learners with practical industrial skills. This event seeks to change that perception by proving that students in vocational education can also excel in areas such as fashion, communication, leadership and presentation.

Contestants will compete in four key categories which include Professional Wear, Creative Wear, Vintage Wear and Dinner Wear. These segments will allow participants to express their personal style while demonstrating creativity, confidence and elegance. The official theme for the evening is all White with a Touch of Red, symbolising unity, purpose and passion among Kenya’s TVET community.

Registration for the pageant is ongoing at a fee of Ksh 30,000, with the deadline set for October 31.

Contestants drawn from TVET institutions nationwide are expected to showcase talent that reflects not only their creativity but also the discipline and professionalism developed through vocational training.

The Mr and Miss TVET Kenya pageant represents a significant step in reshaping public perceptions of technical education. It aims to show that vocational students are not limited to workshops and laboratories but are also capable of excellence in art, communication and self-presentation. Through this event, organisers hope to promote a balanced image of TVET graduates as both skilled and confident individuals ready to engage in various aspects of society.

The competition will also serve as a platform for mentorship, networking and national exposure. Winners are expected to become ambassadors of the TVET sector, promoting innovation, youth empowerment and inclusivity. By offering such a platform, the pageant aligns with Kenya’s broader goal of nurturing well-rounded graduates capable of driving the country’s development agenda.

Preparations for the event are ongoing, with contestants and trainers across different TVET institutions finalising their entries. Organisers are also putting together a vibrant evening programme that will include performances, runway showcases and interactive sessions designed to celebrate the creativity and diversity of Kenya’s technical students.

As the countdown continues, the Mr and Miss TVET Kenya 2025/2026 event is being viewed as more than just a beauty competition. It is a national celebration of skill, character and innovation that underscores the transformation taking place in Kenya’s vocational education system. On November 12, the spotlight will shine on the students who are redefining what it means to be in TVET, a blend of skill, creativity and confidence that reflects the future of Kenya’s workforce.
