Kisumu Central National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has so far undertaken various projects in several schools within the area to a tune of over Sh180 million.

Some of the projects include an ongoing construction of one secondary school and general improvement of infrastructure in a number of learning institutions. The fund has also disbursed a total of Sh5.3 million bursaries to students across the constituency.

Area Member of Parliament Fred Ouda said 1,000 Form One students benefitted from the funds.

The MP said he is also giving scholarship funds to 250 students to enable them to complete their secondary education.

He was speaking during the disbursement of cheques to various school heads at the NG-CDF office in Kisumu.

Ouda said they are also improving infrastructure in schools to boost academic performance and well-being of pupils and students in schools within the constituency.

He said his administration is building bathrooms and classes to accommodate the swelling numbers of students caused by the government’s 100 per cent transition policy.

Ouda singled out the construction of a secondary school in Manyatta’s informal settlement worth Sh100 million.

He said the new learning institution at Kosawo Primary School is a three-storey building which will host 12 classrooms.

“The school is being constructed on one acre in Kondele ward. The project, which was started early this year, is expected to be completed in 2023,” he said.

Ouda added that the school will have a modern library, chemistry, physics and biology laboratories when completed.

The MP said the motivation behind the school is the wide catchment area around Manyatta, Kondele and Migosi.

The legislator said they have built a storey building with nine classrooms at a cost of Sh13 million to help decongest Magadi Secondary School as well.

At St. Theresa’s Girls Secondary School in Kibuye, the NG-CDF has constructed a Sh12 million administration block, while Obinju Primary has six classrooms built at a cost of Sh12 million.

The NG-CDF built six classrooms each at Bishop Abiero Primary and Dunga Primary Schools at Sh12 million respectively.

In Obunga, Ouda said six classrooms have also been constructed at Kudho Primary School at Sh12 million.

Joel Omino Mixed Secondary School also benefited from a modern hall consisting of a library, laboratory and theatre hall worth Sh13 million.

The MP said they have completed a storey building with six classrooms at Xaverian Primary School in Milimani at Sh10 million.

“The facility had been started by parents, and CDF pumped in money to complete it,” he affirmed.

At Kisumu Day secondary, a modern 43-door ablution block has been completed at Sh6.5 million.

While at Nanga Secondary, Ouda said they have completed a Sh3 million administration block.

At Lions High School, a new basketball court was established at Sh1.5 million, while Kisumu Boys School has a classroom equipped with 45 lockers and chairs.

The MP said that he has no segregation in allocation of public funds to develop schools as he adds that his office is also giving funds to women groups for income generating activities.

Ouda therefore called on his constituents to support his second term bid.
