Members of parliament have condemned the alleged killing of Albert Omondi Ojwang, a secondary school teacher, who died in Central a police station Nairobi.
The MPs led by Seme Constituency’s James Nyikal stated that no one has a right to arrest, murder, or kill a person merely because he or she disagrees with their views.
In a press briefing on Monday 9th June, 2025 the MPs stated that those involved must be prosecuted.
“The death of Albert Omondi Ojwang’, who was arrested in Homa Bay County on Saturday, June 7,and turned up dead the next morning at Central Police Station in Nairobi, is a stark reminder that the question of police brutality is one whose answers we are yet to find,” Nyikal said.

The lawmakers called on President William Ruto to take charge and restore order in the security apparatus of the nation arguing that Article 33 of the Constitution guarantees the freedom of expression, which includes the freedom to seek, receive and impart information.
The MPs stated that the President should fire characters in the regime who abrogate themselves the power to determine the level of freedom enjoyed by citizens, and who play judge, jury and executioners, in perpetuating the growth of rogue culture in the country,.
They stated that many young people have died in hands of police and they have never received justice.
MP Millie Odhiambo Mabona (Suba North) called on the investigating agencies to move with swiftness and unearth what indeed killed the teacher.

“The level of intolerance has spiraled in the country and no one should take someone’s life just because they differ or attack them in social media platforms,” she said.
Ojwang was arrested following a complaint by the Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat who accused him of tarnishing his name on social media.
The National Police Service (NPS) interdicted five officers stationed at Central Police Station in connection with the incident.
