MP vows to invest more in education, unveils bursary programme

The   Kanduyi  Constituency legislator, Hon  John Makali, has  vowed  to  continue  investing  more  resources  in  the
education  sector  through  the  National  Government  Constituencies Development  Fund  NG-CDF.

While addressing teachers, parents  and  various  stakeholders during  the official  unveiling  of  the constituency bursary  programme for  bright  but
needy  students   in  secondary  schools, TVETs and  universities, at  Chemche   ACK  Mixed Secondary  School in  Bukembe  West Ward,  Hon  Makali  said  that he had  set  aside funds to a tune  of Kshs.  38 million to pay tuition  fees for  beneficiaries.

He  noted  that  every  student from a day secondary  school will  each receive  Kshs.  5,000, while those in boarding schools will receive Kshs 10,000 and  an allocation  of  Kshs  12,000 will go to students in tertiary institutions. The MP urged them  to  focus  on  their  studies  fully to be able to reach a bright  future.

According  to  Hon  Makali, the NG-CDF office received  a total  of  Kshs.  45 million for the  financial  year, noting that  85%  of  the  funds
have  been  channeled  towards  the education  sector.

“Kanduyi  constituency   is  supposed  to receive  a total capitation  of  Kshs.  165 million  from  the  National  Treasurery,” he said, promising  to  ensure  that  Chemche  ACK  Mixed  Secondary   School purchases  more  land using the allocated money  for  its  expansion.

The  Chairman   of  the  bursaries  vetting   committee, Mr.  Yusuf Machiva   Wafula,   applauded  its  members  for  their  dedication
with  identifying  the  needy  students  to  benefit  from  the bursary  programme.

Also  present  was  Mrs.  Rose  Nasambu.  the  Principal  of  Khaoya Secondary  school , Mrs  Grace  Odiuor  of  Nalutiri  Secondary  School and
Hellen  Atenya,  principal for  Matumbufu   Girls  High  School.
