MP urges parents to provide moral, psychological support to children

Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament (MP) Ombane Gisairo has appealed to parents to support their children morally and psychologically to boost their academic performance and holistic growth.

“A child needs parental love before other things follow to ensure their success,” he said.

Addressing parents, teachers and pupils at Kierira Primary School in the constituency during donation of sanitary towels and pants worth Ksh300,000 to the school, he said that parental love was very important for the growth of the children.

Gisairo asked parents to provide enough food for their children to enable them settle and concentrate in class.

In addition, he urged them to create a conducive environment in their homes to enable pupils feel comfortable and at peace.

The MP further asked them to be available for the children at home and visit them in school to motivate the pupils and their teachers.

“Motivation does not entail material things alone. You can visit schools and give psychological and moral support by appreciating them,” he said.

Gisairo noted that his office has initiated a programme where officers will walk from one school to another to note problems facing the schools and find long-term solutions.
