Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament (MP), Clive Ombane has asked the government to employ more teachers who will teach in Junior Secondary Schools (JSSs).

Speaking from his Constituency, the MP said that teachers who have received Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) are in primary schools thus he asked the government to refrain from hosting JSS learners in secondary schools.

“The learners are also too young to mix with those in secondary school,” he added.

His sentiments were echoed by parents who said that most of the CBC pupils are underage and it would be odd for them to mingle with senior students who might bully them.

According to parents, the young scholars should be provided with different uniforms from their colleagues to mark their transition.

CBC has attracted mixed reactions from citizens with others claiming that it should be scrapped because is expensive while others advocate for its retention.

The Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu said that President Ruto will decide the fate of the curriculum after studying findings from the recently appointed Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms .
