The Eldas Member of Parliament Hon. Aden Keynan has called on north-eastern residents to continue investing in the education of their children.
While speaking during a parent’s day event at Eldas Secondary School where he was the chief guest, the legislator decried poverty and shortage of teachers as major challenges to progress in the arid region.
“That being the case, the way to bridge the widening gap is by educating our children and keep urging them to prioritise taking teaching courses,’’ said Dr. Keynan who studied Education at Moi university.
The leader said that an educated workforce is the foundation of every community and future of every economy, reiterating that investment in education always pays highest returns.
“I am committed to enhancing the capacity of education institutions by elevating their statuses to competitively feature in the national academic space,’’ he emphasized.
Urging the people to walk with him, the MP said he believes in the transformative value of education in the community development.
He reminded the constituents that it was their collective responsibility to secure a better future for their children and guarantee more development opportunities for the community.
“Our goal must be achieved through concerted effort and holistic working relationship with other stakeholders at all levels of education,’’ said Keynan.
In addition, the MP urged the education stakeholders and students in the region to focus on the forthcoming KCSE Exams to attain better performance.
Keynan who is Jubilee coalition’s Joint Parliamentary Secretary took the opportunity to rally support for Azimio movement saying Raila Odinga will bring meaningful change not only for the arid region but the county at large.
The MP who gifted the school with a 51- seater bus also commissioned a new dormitory and later laid the foundation stone for the deputy principal’s house. All these projects are financed by National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF)
