MP to sponsor first 100 local students to newly constructed KMTC

Awendo Member of Parliament will sponsor the first 100 students at Awendo Kenya Medical Training College after completion of construction by September this year.

Hon. Walter Owino encouraged locals to enrolment in local learning institutions, saying they are well equipped to enhance education to within the region.

Owino who was speaking during the burial of his former primary school teacher Bernard Oketch, applauded teachers for their dedication in shaping the future of the nation through imparting knowledge to their learners and producing good results.

“I am who I am today because of my teacher. Our teachers are working tirelessly to help shape the future of our children, hence the support from the constituency development  fund to help enhance learning facilities and school fees,” said Owino.

He urged locals to embrace education at all levels of learning saying it will help promote the development of the society.

“Our children deserve education at all levels to acquire necessary skills that would enable them make a living on their own. Let us embrace education and utilize the available resources and learning institutions to enlighten our people,” said Owino.

The foundation stone of the KMTC was laid by the former Prime Minister RT. Hon. Raila Odinga on 6th April 2019. It was started with a funding of Sh 50 million through the NG-CDF.

The Kenya medical training college chief executive officer, Mr. Phillip Kaluki said the project would help increase the number of trained personnel in the health sector.
