West Mugirango Member of Parliament, Steve Mogaka has asked University students to reciprocate their parents’ sacrifice by remaining focused in their studies.

Speaking to first year students from his constituency, the MP noted that most needy students forgot about their humble homes soon after they joined University and instead indulged in immoralities and ended up disappointing their parents and themselves.

“Your parents invest a lot of money for your education with the hope that you will work hard to succeed and help them during their old age,” he said.

During the meeting Mr. Mogaka offered Ksh. 1 million to more than 1,200 students from various Universities who were in the occasion for their basic upkeep expenses.

The legislator pledged to provide extra support to students who pursue science driven courses like Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine.

“We live in a world that is dictated by science and technology. I want you to put more effort in the study of these areas,” he added.

He promised to be the economic advocate of the youth by supporting them with finances that will enable them to learn and acquire skills for self-sustenance.

Mr. Mogaka asked area school management committees to assess their needs and shortcomings and furnish his office with the information to ensure improvement of infrastructure.

.“This will enable our community to prosper.” He concluded.
