The Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament, Ombane Gisairo, has refuted claims that schools in Gusii region were involved in cheating in the 20202 KCSE examinations.

He said that children from the community are capable of doing well in the examinations and told off individuals who are trying to muddy their reputation.

The MP who was speaking at Nyamagwa Secondary School on Sunday said that the residents have confidence in their teachers and promised to protect them from those who were maliciously portraying a negative image against them.

Gisairo who is a member of the parliamentary education committee asked the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to change their mode of administering the examinations in order to attract the public confidence.

“I appeal to the Kenya National Examinations Council to strengthen their internal security in order to avoid alleged examination leakages,” he said.

On the delayed payment of last year’s examination markers, he assured them that they will receive their payments soon.

“My parliamentary education committee can assure teachers that their money will be paid very soon,” he said.

He also asked KNEC to find another way of paying the markers their dues besides basing it on number of script a person marked.
