Kanduyi constituency MP John Makali has reiterated his focus to improve the education sector.
Addressing the press at the NG-CDF offices after former MP Wafula Wamunyinyi officially handed over the office to him, Makali noted that his administration will offer bursaries to needy students and put up infrastructure in public learning institutions.
He added that since Kanduyi constituency is among the biggest constituencies in Kenya, according to the NG-CDF Act 2015, other than the normal capitation of Ksh 138 million awarded by the national treasury, it will receive 25 per cent more.
“My office will streamline its operations to ensure that all ongoing projects in over 150 public primary schools are completed,” he added.
He hinted at partnering with other MPs to come up with laws to improve on the NG-CDF Act for the benefit of all constituencies.
On the other hand, Wamunyinyi noted that some of the ongoing projects include construction of classrooms at Ranje Primary School and Namachanja High School.
He further noted that schools like Cardinal Otunga Girls are in dire need of more classrooms and other facilities due to the high student population.
Bungoma South Deputy County Commissioner, who is also Bungoma county commissioner, Mr Duncan Okwatch said that the national government is ready to work with all elected leaders for proper service delivery and transformation in the education sector at large.
