Suna West Member of Parliament Hon. Peter Francis Masara has pledged to continue supporting the constituency’s education sector as he begins his second term in parliament.

Hon. Masara noted that his efforts to start additional schools in the area had borne fruits and now he was going to focus on infrastructural development and provision of necessary resources needed to boost their academic performance.

The legislator was speaking at Bishop Masaga Ogada Girls Secondary school over the weekend where he had gone to commission a 45-seater bus fully funded by the constituency’s’ NG-CDF.

He challenged parents to embrace local schools saying that they had the capacity to produce the best students in the country.

“I started several schools within the constituency because I know that most parents are faced with the challenge of how to enroll their children in schools far away from their locality. I want us to embrace these schools and help them develop by enrolling our children here,” Masara told parents.

Hon. Masara started 19 new schools in the constituency during his first term in office with the intent of curbing school dropout cases in the area by reducing the distance covered by learners to school.

The second-time legislator further told parents that enrolling their children in learning institutions within the constituency would raise the learners’ population and in turn compel the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to hire more teachers in the schools.

“The existence of schools around us contributes towards promoting coexistence and business opportunities. We want our people to be able to have businesses and job opportunities within their reach as our children get quality academic training for their future,” he noted.

He noted that the constituency was the first in the county to give bursaries worth ten thousand shillings and full scholarships to bright and needy and bright orphans in the region.

The MP further warned locals against politicizing management of learning institutions saying instead of developing the sector, it will contribute towards failure and downfall of the institutions.

“I call on our people to exercise patience and support the leaders they elected to help realize the wishes of the people through implementation of development projects with an initiative of improving the living standards within the society,” he noted.

He also pledged to ensure more resources are channeled to the learning institutions to upgrade them to national school standards.
