MP launches bursaries for secondary, tertiary learners

Nyaribari Chache MP has launched bursary funds for secondary schools and tertiary institutions from his area’s NG-CDF allocation.

Zaheer Jhanda, the area legislator, launched the bursary worth Ksh. 47miliion meant to improve access to education funding for students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

Speaking at Nyanturago stadium during the exercise, Jhanda, said every child has a right to education and parents should take advantage of the free education to ensure children go to school.

Jhanda said that he will make sure that every child has accessed education more so those who come from vulnerable backgrounds.

According to Jhanda most of the learners missed classes during first term due to lack of school fees.

“Most of the learners depend on bursaries, we are now happy that they will pursue with their studies,” he said.

The legislature said that education is among the priorities he has to ensure no child remains at home due to lack of School fees.

According to him most of the learners come from the community around and some have had challenges of raising school fees forcing some to drop out.

Kisii Central Deputy County Commissioner, Wilberforce Kilonzo, asked parents to work hand in hand with the teachers to better the results of their children.

Kilonzo said that parents have a role to play to ensure good learning environment to the learners and also to monitor them.

He challenged parents not to leave such crucial roles to teachers alone and that they should start working with them.

At the same function, the legislature launched NHIF for registering 4.5 million from the region and pleaded to the residents to ensure that they have been registered.
