MP launches a new primary school

By Michael Oduor

Voi Member of Parliament Jones Mlolwa has officially launched Mwambani primary school in Kasigau ward, Voi sub county, Taita Taveta county.

Speaking during the launch of the school, the legislator reiterated that the opening of the school will not only ease congestion in schools but will also shorten the distance walked by pupils in search of education.

The school kids have also been facing the challenge of being attacked by stray wildlife while walking home during late hours.

Hon. Mlolwa urged residents living around the school to support it by ensuring they bring more pupils to the school.

The three classrooms in Mwambani Primary were constructed by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), Voi Sub-county.

The MP promised to construct 3 additional classrooms, provide water catchment facilities and fence the school compound through the NG-CDF.

Voi Sub County Director of Education Mr. Sylvester Kiilu said they will support the new school by fast tracking its registration as a public primary school.

Curriculum Support Officer of Nyangala Division Lucy Macharia urged the education stakeholders to hasten the registration of the school and to ensure Teachers Service Commission sends teachers at the new school.

Also present during the opening of the school was Voi DCC Mr. Daniel Nduti who called on parents to embrace education by being involved in their kids’ education.
