Kaiti Constituency Member of Parliament, MP Joshua Kimilu has revealed that there are so many Grade 10 students at home as opposed to what the government is reporting.
Kimilu speaking at Kyuasini in Ilima ward, in Makueni County during the issuance of secondary school bursary both day and boarding, said after going round in many areas of his constituency, he has found many children still stuck at home for lack of fees and other necessities.
“There is a big problem, let me tell you in the areas I have visited I found around 10 students who have not joined senior schools. I have even sent six students to one of the principals I had spoken to. I will sponsor their fee since they come from very needy families,” Kimilu said

He noted that like any other parts of the country, the people of Kaiti are experiencing the tough economy as well and there is need to uplift the level of education regardless of the poverty level.
“Here we are issuing Ksh 3500 to each day scholar and Ksh5000 to each boarder, though it is not enough to cater for the ever ballooning numbers of needy students,” he said
He thanked the courts for not abolishing NG-CDF, sayingthat it has really been helping a lot.
