Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament (MP) Zaheer Jhanda has promised to prioritize development of the education sector in the constituency.

The MP was speaking at his Keumbu NG-CDF office on Wednesday when he initiated the full scholarship of 35 bright students from needy homes to join Form 1.

“I decided to use my own funds to assist these children while we wait for the government to release funds to the constituencies,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity to work hard towards their dreams. They were also awarded several items including; mattresses, boxes, uniforms and other personal effects.

“This is a golden opportunity that you should seize to free yourselves from poverty because opportunity comes once in a lifetime,” he said.

In attendance was Ibeno Ward MCA Stephen Arika who praised the MP for the initiative and promised that his office will work hand in hand with the MP’s office to support education development in the area.

He said Jhanda’s initiative had come at an opportune time when his office was busy sensitizing teenage mothers to go back to school.

Nyaribari Chache NG-CDF office Manager Evans Mikaye told residents to visit the office frequently for updates.

He appealed to parents to process important documents like birth certificates early to avoid the last minute rush and for faster service.

Jane Borura, one of beneficiaries, thanked the MP for the initiative and promised to work hard to realize her dream of becoming a pilot.
