Following frequent incidents of lightning in Nabuyole of Webuye East, area legislator Martin Wanyonyi is putting up a Ksh3.45 million arrester centre to protect children.
Speaking during the launch, the MP said the project is aimed at containing cases of learners being struck by lightning.
Funded by the NGCDF, the project will allay tragedies that have been common in the area. It will be erected at Nabuyole Primary School and completed in two months.
“We have allocated Ksh3.45 million from the NGCDF to put up the lightening arrester at this school to tame the frequent problem of lightning,” he said.
He pointed out that the problem has persisted over time, calling them to action to prevent more accidents.
“We are going to install lightning arresters in this area to avoid such tragedies in the future as witnessed before,” said the MP, adding that the community around will also benefit.
And because this is a rainy season, he asked the contractor to hasten the installation so that safety is assured.
The school, led by the head teacher Ayub Amuko, appreciated the project and thanked the MP for his thoughtful consideration.
