Uriri sub-county Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Nyamita has joined the call to consolidate all loans, bursaries and scholarship funds for education programmes in the country.

Addressing residents in Ururi town, Nyamita said that the existence of the National Government Constituency Development (NG-CDF), National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), Presidential Bursary Fund, and County government bursary funds are a duplication of funding which could be amalgamated into one pool.

Acknowledging that education is the main tool of enabling development in the society, he appealed to the government to heed the call to ensure education equity for all citizens.

The legislator, who held several meetings in his constituency to sensitize residents on the new university funding model, decried the high number of students and parents who were ignorant on how the system works.

“The confusion happening in my constituency concerning the new University Funding model, is s sample of the whole country. It is sad that even when applying for the loans, students do not know what information to include and what document to attach,” he said.
