Turkana West Member of Parliament Daniel Nanok has called upon members of the teaching fraternity from the area to pursue professional courses in order for them to remain relevant.

Nanok pointed out that the world has become so competitive such that only the best will in future survive.

The Mp who was speaking in Kisumu during the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Turkana chapter said teachers must be prepared to face further challenges through professional undertakings.

He said promotions today are based on the number of professional certificates one has.

“The panel will not tell you to take the course but will ask whether you have them at the time of the interviews” he said.

Nanok said teachers should similarly be role models to society and lead them by example, advising the teachers to avoid cheap talks and gossips at their places of work.

Nanok indicated that Turkana West residents and the entire county should invest in education of their children noting that it holds the key to their future prospects.

He said teachers in the region should provide guidance to the upcoming generations.

Nanok said that teachers should shun politics and instead concentrate on their noble calling.

The MP said school heads should be firm while in the course of discharging their duties.
