MP denies discrimination in NG-CDF distribution to schools

By Enock Okong’o

MP for Kitutu Masaba Shadrack Mose has dispelled allegations that he was discriminatory in the distribution of NG-CDF funds, pledging his commitment to supporting education in the area.

He said that his office had disbursed over Ksh. 237 million in the last few years to boost infrastructure.

The MP who spoke at Magombo town in Nyamira County was reacting to some complaints from some school managements that his office was unfair to some schools.

He said his office had made it systematic that each of the 237 schools in the constituency received at least Ksh.1 Million as seed money to jumpstart the construction of classrooms for the Competency-Based Curriculum.

The legislator regretted that there was limited funds to satisfy individual needs of each school but promised to share the little they got equitably and continue to share whatever came out of the National Treasury.

“We try to distribute the funds equitably but in phases because its flow from treasury is not constant,” he said.

He added that his office had finished with the schools in Rigoma Ward and promised to complete the disbursement to others before the end of the year.

Among the institutions that benefitted during Phase One include Kegogi PAG Secondary and Primary schools, and Riomanga and Riobara Primary schools.

St Dans Eringe Secondary School also benefited and was lauded for its exemplary performance in the Kenya National Examinations.
