MP condemns theft at Nyakiogiro Primary School in Kisii

Kitutu Chache North MP Japhet Mokaya has condemned theft of school property saying that it retards development.

He asked the area Chief to join hands with the police and find out how Nyakiogiro Primary School was broken into by unknown people who made away with stationery and other valuables.

“This is a serious matter that needs quick police intervention,” he said.

According to the head teacher of the School Evans Moturi, they left everything intact on Friday. “We crowned the day peacefully and locked, leaving everything intact,” he said.

But they were surprised when he reported at school on Monday January 20 and found the library and the administration block broken into and everything stolen.

When he was interrogated by area chief in the presence of this reporter, the head teacher failed to explain where the school watchman was when the theft occurred.

The MP who was speaking at Masakwe Secondary School on Wednesday January 22 during the monitoring and verifying the bursary application forms for both university and secondary school students from his constituency, he reminded parents to discourage their children from indulging in social vices like drug abuse.

He also advised them against early marriages because they divert their minds from concentrating on education.

He assured all those who applied for bursary fund that they will be considered.
