Bobasi Constituency Member of Parliament, MP, Innocent Obiri has decried the small number of parents who attend their children’s School prizing day and attributed it to lack of sensitization by teachers to parents.
He urged teachers to devote special days in every term in the school calendar to invite parents and engage them in academic matters instead of waiting until after the end of the year when they come to celebrate their children’s achievement.

Speaking to Parents, teachers and students of Nyamache Boys Secondary during the Prize giving Day, the MP compared proper learning achievements for any school with seedlings in a farm which need consistent watering, weeding and spraying to encourage good harvest.

“You cannot deposit seeds in the soil leave them uncared in the garden and expect them to grow to maturity for better yields,” he said.
The law maker added that his NG- CDF office gave priority to the support of education by building and innovating class rooms and working in conjunction with the county government to improve feeder roads to schools.
He expressed his happiness for the reconstruction of Nyamache Bridge by the national government saying that it will be ready by the end of this month.
After its completion, the bridge will connect Nyamache, Gionseri, Riambase and other neighboring learning institutions like Nyamache KMTC to main road have having been separated for more than one year.

Parents praised the Principal of the School Hezron Obike for his good managerial skills that enabled aid teachers and students, as a team to post desirable results in the 2025 KCSE examination results.
MP Obiri took emphasized to the parents the importance of attending school education days for their children’s general progress.
He said that these days are important because they bring together parents, teachers, students and other stakeholders to take stock of their achievements and synergize them for further pursuit of excellence.
‘It is during these times when the teachers and students achievements are highlighted to provide them with a sense of accomplishment and belonging.” He said

The Principal asked parents to provide their children with enough money to buy essential things like soap, tooth paste and body ointments in order to curtail petty thievery amongst themselves .
He appreciated the contribution of all stakeholders towards the success of the school.
During the event, the best performing students and teachers were rewarded with variety of gifts.
