Matungulu Member of Parliament Stephen Mule has called on the government to conduct Covid-19 testing in all schools and ensure all learners are vaccinated against the disease.

Mr. Mule who spoke after some teachers in his constituency tested positive for coronavirus said the disease had spread all over the country and there was need for more caution.

He said the teachers who tested positive had interacted daily with students and it was possible that some had also been infected.

Speaking at A.I.C Katwanyaa on Sunday during retirement party of Rev. Stanley Mativo, the MP asked Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe and his Education counterpart George Magoha to ensure all learners were vaccinated so as to safeguard their health.

“Some teachers in Matungulu tested positive for coronavirus. These teachers were interacting with our children and so it is a serious matter. The government must ensure mass testing and vaccination in schools,” he said.

During the event, the parliamentarian also warned politicians against divisive politics as the country geared towards the general elections in 2022.
