Teachers have been told to embrace the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) because it is more skill-oriented than the abandoned old curriculum.
While speaking at Nyambunwa primary school in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency, the area Member of Parliament Prof. Zadoc Ogutu told teaches to go for in-service courses to be conversant with the requirements of the new system as they need to adapt with time and equip themselves with the current technology to enable them remain relevant in the education field.
Quoting Darwin’s theory of ‘survival for the fittest,’ the MP asked teachers to work smart in order to gain confidence from their pupils.
During the impromptu visit to the school, the MP who is a former lecturer at Kenyatta University, found time to advise pupils on cultivating good character from their formative years for a good future.
He advised head teachers to be friendly to their pupils and teachers for the purpose of creating conducive learning environment.
On infrastructure, Ogutu said that his National Government Community Development Fund (NG-CDF) had given priority to infrastructural development. He reiterated his effort to complete more than eight primary schools under the centers of excellence establishments. He asked the school management committees that will be assigned to supervise the construction of the centers to use the allocated money prudently.
”The government pumps a lot if resource for the development of education and calls for transparent managers.” He said.
During the occasion, the MP donated 30 wooden desks to the school to solve the problem of more than enough pupils having to squeeze in one desk.
He asked the head teacher to check on pressing issues that needed to be urgently resolved within the institution for him to offer assistance.
