MP asks principals to help NG-CDF committees identify needy students for bursaries

MP NG-CDF

Kitutu Chache North Member of Parliament (MP) Anthoney Kibagendi has disbursed bursary cheques worth Ksh 40 million from the NG-CDF kitty for secondary school students residing in the area.

The legislator who was talking to parents, teachers and students at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High school on Monday asked principals to identify needy students who were not part of the beneficiaries to be considered for assistance.

He asked teachers to assist the principals to achieve academic excellence by encouraging students to participate in sports and games to ensure holistic development.

Kibagendi noted that some youth stray away from a constructive life due to lack of proper guidance from parents at their formative years and thus called on parents to monitor and teach their children on the effects of drug abuse and instead focus on their studies.

He further asked parents to enroll their children to technical institutes instead of enabling them to enter into the Bodaboda industry because it will not sustain them for long.

“I ask parents to invest in the education of their children because it is the best inheritance a parent can give to their children,” he said.

The MP led the gathering in observing five seconds of silence in memory of the late principal Amos Maroria who passed away in a road accident two weeks ago.

Until his death, he was the principal of Tambacha High school and Chairman of Marani Subcounty Secondary Schools Heads Association.

His body will be laid to rest on Friday. He will be survived by a widow and four children.
