Matungulu Member of Parliament, (MP) Stephen Mule has asked the government to create jobs for the youths especially those graduating from Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes.
Addressing thousands of students at Katine Technical Training Institute, Mule states that tertiary institutions are churning out skillled youths in large numbers yet the job opportunities are very scarce.
“Due to this we have thousands of youths who are frustrated and restless.” He said
The MP gave an example of the youths trained under National Youth Service who fail to secure meaningful jobs.
“These guys here have studied for three years, they have certificates yet they will be taken back to the barracks and handed a shovel,is that fair,” asked Mule.

Mule noted that the government should consider deploying youth from NYS into various national development projects aligned with their field of study.
He spoke after commissioning series of development projects in different schools.
At Katine TTI, Mule commissioned a comprehensive outfitter electrical and electronics workshop and 10 instructional classrooms.
Katine primary school received an administration block and two newly constructed classrooms while Kwatombe primary and junior secondary schools he commissioned 10 renovated classrooms.
