Questions continue to pour following the mysterious death of Manyuki Secondary School Principal Simon Isiaho Shange, even after a postmortem report revealed that he died as a result of drowning.

Sange’s lifeless body was discovered six days in a river after his vehicle was found wrecked along a road in Lugari, Kakamega County. The postmortem findings, conducted at a local hospital, indicated that water had entered his lungs, suggesting drowning as the cause of death.

However, the results have raised more questions than answers. Residents and colleagues are puzzled over how the principal could have drowned, given that the accident scene and the location where his body was recovered are five kilometres apart.

“If his car crashed on land, how did he end up in water so far away? Who moved the body, and why the long delay before it was found?” one resident asked.

Locals are calling for a thorough investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to determine the actual circumstances surrounding the death.

They are urging detectives to review phone records, M-Pesa transactions, and vehicle movements before and after the crash.

Witnesses also want investigators to establish who was driving the car, which reportedly refueled at Turbo on the day of the incident. They have further requested that the clothing Sange was found wearing be compared to what he had on earlier that day.

The community members in Lugari believe the principal may have been tortured and murdered before his body was dumped to disguise the killing as an accident.

Police have yet to release an official statement on the progress of investigations, even as calls for justice for Principal Sange continue to grow louder across the county.
