More ECDE teachers to be employed in Kisii to meet rising demand

Kisii County Governor Simba Arati. He revealed plans to employ more ECDE teachers during this year's Labour Day celebrations.

Two months after the confirmation of 900 ECDE teachers into permanent and pensionable terms, Kisii County is set to employ more teachers to cater for the ever increasing number of children in schools.

Speaking during the 59th Labour Day celebrations yesterday, Governor Simba Arati said ECDE teachers play a big role in the lives of children as they set the tone for their development.

He said the county government was at advanced stages in the confirmation of workers in the other sectors to permanent and pensionable employees.

“We have other workers in our government who been working on contract for more than five years but soon they will be our permanent and pensionable employees,” he said.

Pointing out that education and health are the main pillars of development, the governor asked doctors and nurses to call off their strike and treat people who have suffered a lot, many having lost their lives because of lack of treatment.

He asked the medics to be in the frontline towards saving life because their profession dictates so, wondering why they were betraying themselves against their creed of service.

Accompanied by his deputy Elijah Obebo and other government officials, among them Members of County Assembly (MCAs), he asked residents to make use of the ongoing heavy rains to attend to their farms and practice agroforestry for more farm productivity.

He asked agricultural officers to be near farmers and advise them on how to adapt themselves to weather and climate change.
