MoE explains delayed payments to 2025 contracted examination officials

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has moved to address growing concerns over delayed payments to contracted professionals involved in the administration and marking of the 2025 National Examinations and Assessments.

In a press statement released on February 12, 2026, and signed by Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, the MoE acknowledged the concerns raised by affected personnel nationwide.

“The MoE wishes to acknowledge the legitimate concerns raised regarding the delayed payment of contracted professionals engaged in the administration and marking of 2025 National Examinations and Assessments.”

The statement underscored the vital contribution made by examination officials, noting their central role in safeguarding the credibility of national assessments.

“The Ministry recognises the role played by the Supervisors & Invigilators, Security Personnel, Examiners and other Contracted Professionals in safeguarding the integrity, credibility, and timely delivery of National Assessments,” Ogamba said.

The payment delays stem from broader financial challenges currently affecting government disbursements, the CS added.

The staement added further: “The delays in disbursement of allowances have arisen from budgetary and cash flow constraints currently affecting the release of funds.”

Despite the setbacks, the MoE has assured affected professionals that resolving the matter remains a top priority.

It further indicated that collaborative efforts are underway to expedite the process.

“The Ministry, in collaboration with the National Treasury, is actively working to resolve the matter and expedite the release of the requisite funds within the shortest time possible.”

In its conclusion, the statement expressed appreciation for the patience demonstrated by contracted personnel and a commitment to improve payment timelines moving forward.

“The Ministry appreciates the patience, professionalism, and continued cooperation of all contracted personnel during this period.”

The Ministry added that further updates would be communicated as appropriate, signalling continued engagement with stakeholders as it works to resolve the issue.
