The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, (EPRA) has announced plans to carry out electrical compliance and safety audits in selected learning institutions across the country, including primary schools secondary schools and colleges.
This was revealed by the Ministry of Education, (MoE) via a circular notice dated September 18, signed by the Basic Education Principal Secretary Prof. Julius Bitok and directed to all County Directors of Education to communicate with Heads of learning institutions of the planned audits and make sure they cooperate for the success of the activity.

“These audits will be carried out between August 2025 and June 2026. The objective is to assess the integrity of electrical systems, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and address any potential electrical hazards that could pose risk to students, staff, and the institutions’ infrastructure.” Reads part of the circular,
Pursuant to its mandate under the Energy Act of 2019, EPRA is committed to ensuring safety, reliability and compliance within electrical installations across the county.
