Lecturers at Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) ended their internal strike after the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) MMU Chapter and the institution’s top management reached a return to work agreement. The decision followed a high-level meeting held at the university’s conference hall where both sides committed to restoring normal operations and addressing the issues raised by academic staff.
The discussions brought together UASU officials led by National Secretary General Dr Constantine Wasonga and the MMU Council represented by Chairman Dr Moses Ole Sakuda. The session also involved MMU Vice Chancellor Prof Rosebella Maranga, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Research and Innovation Prof Dr Eng Livingstone Ngoo, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Finance and Planning Prof Geoffrey Kihara, UASU Secretary MMU Chapter Onesmus Mutio and UASU Chairman MMU Chapter Omondi Osano among other officials.

The meeting concluded with a joint return to work agreement that outlined both parties’ commitment to continued dialogue and structural reforms to address the lecturers’ grievances. The document stated that the issues raised in the strike notice had been resolved paving the way for a return to normal teaching and learning.
According to the agreement all academic staff members resumed duty on November 18, 2025.
The resolution marks a significant step toward stabilising academic activities at the institution as both sides reaffirmed their intention to maintain engagement and cooperation moving forward.
