The Education Ministry has approved 78 Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in Malindi sub county to offer Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) education to learners.
Speaking to Education News in Malindi town recently, the Sub County Director of Education Mr. Josphat Ngumi revealed that those were the only schools that met the requirements.
Mr. Ngumi asked parents and other education stakeholders in the area to support the new education reforms to make the sector operate effectively.
“You should therefore work as a team so as to make CBC a success,” he told them.
At the same time, he advised parents to take the education of their children seriously by ensuring that they all go to school and ensure the continuing ones return for the second term.
He also urged them to assist teachers by instilling discipline into their children saying that discipline is a key factor towards success in their children’s final examinations.
Mr. Ngumi asked school heads to ensure that all syllabi is covered as scheduled in order to pave way for revisions early enough.
He also cautioned teachers in the area against frequent absenteeism, adding that any teacher found to have been absent from school without permission will face disciplinary action.
