Ministry announces upgrading programme for unemployed P1 and ECDE teachers

Those with Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and P1 Certificates have until August 13, 2021 to send their applications to Sub-County Directors of Education for upgrading programme.

The ministry of education through the state department of basic and early learning advertised for the upgrading programme urging those interested to start sending their applications from Thursday 29th July 2021.

The programme is expected to take around 9 months with three months teaching practice

 Teachers with ECDE Certificates will upgrade to Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE), with basic requirement being a valid ECDE Certificate.

Unemployed Primary Teachers (P1 Teachers) will upgrade to Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE), with basic requirement being a valid PTE Certificate. The P1 teachers must also be registered by the Teachers Service Commission.

Both causes shall fully be residential with trainees being required to complete the required duration of course work and pass the stipulated assessment by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to be awarded the Diploma.
