Migori County Women Representative has urged locals to join efforts in protection and care by ensuring maximum cleanliness standards for learners in bid to promote performance in the region.

Hon. Dr. Pamela Odhiambo said learners need protection in equal measure to care through provision of basic hygiene items to boost their attention at school when undertaking their studies to be able to perform exemplarily in their studies.

Odhiambo said this during an exercise that her office at the county has commenced towards ensuring that most learners from poor families area supported and assured of love and care to be able to concentrate on their studies.

“I am calling on everyone and every other education stakeholder to join efforts and ensure that we support our children in their academics not only through provision of food and shelter but also to prioritize hygiene as a basic need towards achieving better performance. Cleanliness is close to Godliness and success,” Said Odhiambo.

She also challenged health practitioners to consider volunteering to provide free health services to the learners within their locality as a way of ensuring they remain healthy to undertake learning and in return impacting the education sector positively for better future of the society.

“I have realized most of the learners are coughing and hence the need to wear the facial masks all the time also keeping in mind that Covid-19 is still with us and to keep the learners healthy, we need the assistance of health workers who can volunteer for us to realize the future academic dreams of our children.” She added.

The agenda was launched at Kitabayi Primary and Secondary schools after which the team proceeded to Machicha Primary and Secondary school as they aimed at reaching out to all learners from all the day schools across the county.
