Kuria West Sub County Police Commander Kibet Kimaiyo has lauded area students who were abusing drugs but decided to abandon the vice and expose the peddlers.

“It is through acting on tips from such voluntary information that we were able to arrest a suspect who has been destroying our children’s future with drugs,” he said.

The police boss was addressing newsmen at Isebania town on Saturday after arresting a woman suspected of peddling marijuana to students and also using them to sell it to their private clients.

Kimaiyo said that his officers arrested the 45-year-old suspect with 31 rolls of bhang wrapped in old newspapers upon further searching, discovered 400 grams of unrolled marijuana.

The suspect was booked at Isebania Police Station where she recorded a statement and was arraigned in Court today.

The police boss then cautioned students from Isebania Boys, St. Mary’s Mabera and Moi Nyabohanse Girls Schools against falling prey to drug abuse.
