Kenya Private Schools Association, Migori have asked the government to give clear procedure on the disbursement of the Sh7 billion state loan to private schools.
Speaking to Education News, the County Chair who is also Momokoro Academy Director Mr. Tobias Werema said they have not received any information on how to benefit.
“I appreciate the government’s move of giving us a loan but we wish to be given a succinct explanation on the procedures of accessing the money,” said Werema.
However, Werema indicated that they have been depending on the Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association leadership for information on the matter, a move that has failed to yield fruits since some of the leaders have been out of reach recently.
Mr. Werema, however, called on the government to speed up the process that is set to benefit over 300,000 private schools across the country for preparation ahead of reopening.
However, Nyanza Regional County Director of Education, Mr. Richard Chepkawai Limo noted that the idea would not benefit all the private schools in the country due to the limited funds.
Mr. Limo said population of the schools, documents of registration amongst other factors will be put into consideration on the institutions that are set to benefit from the fund.
“For an institution to be considered, it must be an active member of the Association, their student’s population and other factors will also be considered,” said Limo.
