Migori County Governor Ochillo Ayacko receives the list of newly elected branch officials from KNUT and KUPPET during a meeting in Migori County.

Migori County Governor Dr Ochillo Ayacko met with newly elected officials of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) to discuss education development.

He congratulated them on their election, wishing them success in their roles, saying leadership is a divine calling.

Dr Ayacko urged the new leaders to prioritise quality services, be accountable, and remain committed to improving educational standards.

He expected them to be approachable, listen to teachers’ concerns, and work collaboratively with the county government to address challenges.

“Your leadership should translate to better learning outcomes for our students,” he said.

Flanked by his deputy Joseph Mahiri, the governor thanked teachers for posting good results in the 2025 KCSE examinations.

He had earlier visited several schools, inspecting their condition and development.

He had promised to work with them to improve infrastructure, including classrooms, labs, and sanitation facilities, to create better learning environments.

Dr Ayacko asked the new leaders to foster unity among themselves, to forget past election differences, and to focus on shaping students’ future.

“The child is the priority, let us work together,” he emphasised.

He also requested that school principals provide data on development priorities, especially on clean water provision, to facilitate collaboration with the national government.

“Water is crucial for boarding schools – for hygiene, health, and overall student well-being. We will work to ensure it is available,” he said.
