Governor pledges to support regional music festival champions

Migori governor Achilo Ayacko has promised to support teams that will qualify for the nationals in the ongoing Nyanza schools regional music festivals.

Together with his senatorial counterpart Eddy Okech, Ayacko said they will mobilize resources together to make sure the qualifiers are comfortable at the next level.

The ongoing Nyanza region schools Music fiesta is being hosted at Migori Teachers Training College (TTC) in Migori County.

This year’s festival, whose theme is promoting, preserving, and fostering unity in Africa, will be attended by both primary and secondary schools from the five counties of Nyanza Region.

While opening the event, the governor said his office had liaised with security organs from both National and County governments to ensure that the festival goes on smoothly.

“We know that the security of our children is paramount that is why we have to ensure that you are safe all through.” He said.

Senator Okech thanked the organizers for choosing Migori to host the event because it will boost the business in the area.

“The residents of this county will remember this honour you have accorded us to host this great event.” He said.

Nyanza Region Director of Education Nelson Sifuna expressed optimism in the success of the fete citing its peaceful beginning.

He said that during the exercise, the learners will explore and utilize their all-around talents as emphasized in the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

“This meeting will provide the opportunity for the participants to display their intellectual, physical, and psychological potential aesthetically for their holistic development,”he said.

He appealed to the motorists to be careful as they transport the participants to and from the festival that will last for four days.

“I urge all drivers and their conductors to observe all traveling safety measures as they ferry our children and teachers to the venue.” He said.
