Migori DCC reports 10% rise in 2023 candidature

Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) of Migori Milka Kariuki has announced a 10 percent increase in the number of candidates this year, with an additional 7,708 candidates compared to 2022.

Speaking to Education News at Mabera Primary and Junior Secondary schools, Kariuki reported that a total of 82,279 candidates participated, with 43,137 taking the KCPE and 39,142 appearing for the KPSEA exams.

She acknowledged the substantial increase in the number of girls taking the exam this year attributing it efforts against FGM and early marriage, which had previously hindered girls’ education and development in the region.

The DCC further noted that exam centers in the region also rose from 804 in 2022 to 815 in 2023.

The DCC expressed her satisfaction with the examination’s organization and attributed its success to the collaborative efforts of security personnel and various stakeholders involved in overseeing the exams.

“All candidates should stay calm, confident, and focused to ensure the successful completion of the remaining exams,” she stated.

Additionally, Kariuki warned examiners against carrying mobile phones or unauthorized materials into the examination rooms, as they could distract the candidates from their test papers.
