Middle-aged man sentenced to life for defiling his school-age sister

Etago Law Courts

A middle-aged man from Etago Sub-county in Kisii will spend the rest of his life in Prison after he was found guilty of defiling his 16-year-old younger sister.

Before the Etago law courts, Resident Magistrate Mugenda Nyaga identified the accused as Japhet Mogere on Wednesday.

The court heard that in 2023, on different occasions, he defiled his sister several times as he used his homestead senior position to blackmail his tender-aged sister, who suffered under the beastly sexual abuse from the son of her mother.

The traumatised school girl narrated tearfully how her own brother’s lustful desires betrayed her confidence in him.

“At the beginning, I did not believe that my brother could do such bad things, but it happened several times on my helpless body,” testified the minor.

The magistrate said that they proved the accused guilty of the heinous crime that lacked a proper name other than abomination.

“This unusual act qualifies the accused to be separated from the rest of the community for life imprisonment,” stated the magistrate.

The court stated that the culprit should remain behind bars for the rest of his life to serve as a living testimony and as a deterrent to those who might commit a similar atrocity.

However, the court gave the condemned man 14 days to appeal against the sentence if he thought that the court had maltreated his case.

The incident in the same court comes barely one month after another man from Nyaramba village was sentenced to 15 years after being found guilty of defiling a school girl of 16-years-old.
