Men have been blamed for the poor performance of their children in exams as they have abdicated their natural responsibilities, leaving their spouses to exclusively guide them.
This is the observation of Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikile, who said that the boy child has been neglected at a time when they need their fathers most.
He was speaking at Kiirua during a meeting with all school principals in the constituency.
The MP regretted that majority of men do not attend parents’ meetings organized by schools for them to understand their children better.
“Majority of male parents don’t attend parents meetings or even monitor what their children are doing in school. Fathers should be role models of their sons for better academic performance,” he said.
He said men should start monitoring what their children are doing at home, school and in their social lives lest the situation goes out of hand.
Rindikile encouraged principals to help in improving academic performance especially in the national examinations, pledging to support schools that will post good results.
“I promised to fully support and reward the schools that will post good results. We shall also build administration blocks, construct washrooms, buy school buses and sink boreholes for schools that don’t have such facilities,” said Rindikile.
