MCAs warned of skewed bursary awards

Narok Governor Samuel Tunai has warned the Ward Reps against using favoritism in distributing the county bursary funds meant for the needy students.
Governor Tunai who spoke at Maasai Girls Secondary school when he launched of Sh45million bursary called for equitable distribution of the funds to the deserving learners.
“The Sh45 million is meant for the children from poor families. Each elected MCA will get Sh1 million while nominated will get Sh500, 000. Do not go and give them to your friends because in so doing you will be doing a disservice to the needy,” warned Tunai.
On behalf of the MCAs, assembly committee chairman Samuel Karia hailed the bursary initiatives but said the Sh1 million for each Ward is insufficient as the number of the needy children at the ward-level was high.
Maasai Girls Principal Rose Otego said the county has been instrumental in supporting the school attain academic excellence.
