MCA issues stern warning to men preying on school girls

Mugai Shirugu Ward Nominated MCA Truphena Asembo.

Mugai/Shirugu nominated MCA Truphena Asembo has cautioned paedophiles and sex perverts against preying on school girls assuring them that they will be arrested and arraigned in Court.

Asembo lamented that the region has recorded many cases of teenage pregnancies yet the culprits walk away scot-free.

“There are so many cases of early pregnancies being perpetuated but some of them go unreported while other parties decide to settle the matter out of Court,” she said.

Asembo noted that it was wrong, especially for the girl’s family, to agree to the out-of-court settlement since it was the girl’s life being risked and they should instead let the law take its course.

She urged relevant authorities to bring back sanity to society and warned that those involved in offering Kangaroo services will not be spared.

“With hard economic times staring at many families and households, some sex pests have taken advantage and are luring young girls into illicit affairs ending up pregnant while in school. This has affected their studies and stigmatized them,” she said.

The MCA regretted that Kakamega County has been on the spot over high records of teenage pregnancies and called on women leaders in the region to unite to give attention to the crisis and ensure culprits are brought to book.
