A private school in Kitutu Chache South Constituency has been closed indefinitely by area MCA after the proprietor allegedly killed the watchman.

According to residents, the proprietor suspected the watchman had stolen two kilograms of maize grain meant for feeding pupils.

It is alleged that the proprietor came to school and found the maize missing, quickly turned on the watchman and beat him senseless, leaving him for dead.

Villagers took him to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Kisii Central Police Commander confirmed the death, identifying the deceased as Charles Omori of Bogeka Ward in Kisii County.

The assailant is in police custody.

Learning about the death, Bogeka Ward MCA Richmond Rayori ordered the school closed indefinitely pending an advice from the Ministry of Education.

Addressing parents at the school, he said he took the decision because he considered it traumatizing for the pupils to continue learning seeing blood stains on the floors.

“Let the school be closed for some time for tempers of teachers, pupils and the relatives of the slain watchman go down first before we think about continuation,” he said.

Parents who spoke to Education News condemned the incident.
