Matungulu MP launches new secondary school

By Agnes Orang’o

Matungulu Member of Parliament Stephen Mule on Friday commissioned a new school, Uamani Secondary school in the constituency.

Mule began construction of the school in 2020 in a bid to relocate it from Uamani Primary school where it was being hosted.

Speaking during the event, he noted that the school will soon be connected to electricity and more teachers brought on board.

“I’m aware some of the teachers are being forced to teach two subjects. I will lobby for more teachers and also ensure the school is connected to electricity. We will do an 8-door toilet also because the ones around won’t be enough. Also from now on we will be doing storey buildings because the land is small,” said Mule.

The lawmaker issued the school with a cheque worth Ksh108,000 in bursaries.

He urged parents to help their children apply for bursaries on time disclosing that only 12,000 students applied for bursaries this time.

Mule called upon the county government through the area Member of County Assembly to sink a borehole for the school to get water for use.

He further urged the national government to find ways to cushion Kenyans from the pangs of hunger.

“Some parents are going to school to line up for food with the students. The government should do something before the country is hit with starvation,” noted the MP.
