Matuga NG-CDF released for bright but needy students

Matuga NG-CDF has set a side Shs 45 million as bursaries to assist secondary students from poor backgrounds in the area to advance their education.

Speaking to Education News immediately after attending Education Day at Matuga Girls High School, Matuga MP, Mr. Kassimu Tandaza, disclosed that Shs 15 million has already been disbursed to the deserving students to pursue education in the country.

He further added that the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG- CDF) will soon disburse additional bursary amounting to Shs 5 million to the needy students from poor families.

The legislator however revealed that NG-CDF has prioritized the education sector in the Constituency, arguing that there will be no single bright secondary school student from a poor family who will stay at home due to lack of school fees.

However, Tandaza lamented that many parents from the constituency have not applied for bursaries for their secondary school children, arguing that the trend is therefore bent to defeat government’s efforts in enhancing education levels in the area.

He asked parents in the area to come forward and apply for bursaries for their secondary school children to enable them to continue with education in the country.

“The Constituency’s development actually depends on educated people,” noted Mr. Tandaza.

During the Matuga Girls High School Education Day, the legislator conducted an impromptu funds drive meant for the implementation of the school development projects  where a total of Shs 51,000 was realized.

He also donated Shs 3 million towards the purchase of a new school bus for Matuga Girls High School, during the same function at the school.

However, Mr. Tandaza asked education stakeholders in the constituency to cooperate fully in order to improve education standards

He further stated that NG-CDF will continue to support education programmes in the area in a bid to make them a success.
