Matuga Member of Parliament (MP) Kasim Tandaza has allocated a total of Ksh100 million to construct one of the special school of its kind in the constituency and Kwale County at large which will be dedicated to offer support to students who struggle academically but poses talents in various areas.

The facility which will be established in Vyongwani village will entail a range of modern sports facilities, including swimming pools, football and basketball courts, athletics tracks, javelin throwing areas, and gymnastics equipment.

According to Tandaza, the initiative will help the students realise their talents and model them so that they can achieve something in the future.

“Forcing a student to complete their education only to receive a low grade, which may not benefit them, is unnecessary. If a student has talents that can be developed, they can achieve success just like someone who earns top grades,” he said.

Tandaza said that he is already in discussions with parents and teachers to ensure the success of the project.

The MP announced that students will receive full sponsorship throughout their time at the school, up until graduation.

He emphasized that the main goal is to support talented students and cultivate them into experts in sports and other skills.

The MP mentioned his plans to reform the bursary distribution process to ensure fairer allocation.

He said instead of applying through the NG-CDF office as before, bursaries will now be sent directly to the schools.

The lawmaker noted that there have been numerous complaints in the past, and the change aims to address challenges and bridge the gaps.

“I am not sure, but people have been complaining about unequal access to bursaries, with some alleging they were asked for money. That’s why this new approach is necessary,” he said.

Tandaza said that by sending bursaries directly to schools, he hopes to enhance transparency and fairness in the allocation process.
